‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 3 Arrives on Netflix: A Deep Dive Into the Chaos, Conversion, and Romantic Twists

Just in time for a cozy fall binge-watch, the third season of Netflix’s hit romantic comedy series “Nobody Wants This” has officially made its debut, bringing viewers right back into the whirlwind lives of agnostic dating podcaster Joanne, played by Kristen Bell, and the exceedingly charming Rabbi Noah, played by Adam Brody.

Over the course of the first two seasons, audiences watched the couple fall in love while navigating their exceedingly different worlds. They successfully negotiated early relationship bumps, including Noah’s skeptical and chilly family and community, alongside Joanne’s initial lack of clarity regarding whether she wanted to convert to Judaism. By the end of season two, Joanne had finally decided she was ready to make the plunge. Meanwhile, Noah’s brother Sasha, played by Timothy Simons, and Esther, played by Jackie Tohn, saw their relationship fall apart, and Noah took on a new job at the less-than-stellar Temple Ahava.

Season three wastes no time diving into the heavy questions fans have been asking. Will Joanne actually convert to Judaism? Does that mean Noah and Joanne are officially endgame? How will Noah survive his new professional environment at Ahava? Will Sasha and Esther manage to work things out, or will Sasha and Joanne’s sister Morgan, played by Justine Lupe, finally cross the line from platonic friends to romantic partners?

Episode 1: It’s Perfect

The season premiere opens with Joanne and Noah moving in together. At first, it is blissfully perfect, until the realities of cohabitation set in and they begin to mildly annoy each other. Joanne leaves every single cabinet open—prompting Noah to later tell Esther, “I love closing every cabinet. It’s my passion”—while Noah looks over Joanne’s shoulder at her screen while she reads celebrity gossip, asking, “Do we know her?”

This drives Joanne crazy, prompting her to start having her morning coffee with Morgan at her house under the guise of recording podcast ads. Once Noah uncovers the ruse, he asks Joanne why she didn’t just tell him to get lost, jokingly critiques her dishwasher-loading skills, and carries her back home to try her morning routine in subpar conditions in the backyard under an orange tree. When they trade lists of bad habits, Joanne tells Noah he has to stop leaving his mail out, specifically referencing an invitation to Brian’s wedding in Napa. Noah reveals that Brian’s wedding isn’t just any social event; it’s a wedding he is officiating, and he desperately wants Joanne to accompany him.

Meanwhile, Sasha and Esther officially separate. Viewers even get a brief glimpse of their elusive daughter, Miriam, when the couple breaks the news to her. The newly single Sasha subsequently moves in with Morgan and Lynn on a strictly platonic basis, stepping in as the tall roommate who can help them reach items on high shelves.

Episode 2: Daddy’s Home

Episode 2 opens at Joanne’s conversion class at Temple Chai, where she meets her catty nemesis, Sebastien, who delivers sharp barbs for no apparent reason. The class is taught by Rabbi Eden, played by Sarah Silverman, who opens the session by cheerfully noting, “Don’t worry — the guilt doesn’t happen all at once, it just happens gradually. You barely feel it until one day you’re strangled and dead.”

While Joanne is in class, Noah roams the halls of Temple Chai and discovers that everyone resents Big Noah, the rabbi who secured the senior rabbi position Noah originally wanted. Vowing to reclaim his professional standing, Noah schedules a meeting with the board, who offer him an audition sermon during the upcoming Rosh Hashanah services.

Feeling insecure about whether she is cut out to be a rabbi’s wife, Joanne seeks advice from Morgan, who suggests she consult Bina immediately. This leaves Morgan alone to record the podcast, where she interviews Sasha. Sasha brings up the once-viral self-help phenomenon “Let Them,” prompting Morgan to counter with her own impromptu philosophy: “Make Them.”

At Bina’s house, Bina embraces the challenge of molding Joanne into the ideal partner for a rabbi. “Let me make you into a rebbetzin,” she tells her. This results in Joanne walking into Rosh Hashanah services dressed entirely in Bina’s signature style. Upon seeing her, Noah remarks, “Oh, babe, you look awful,” setting a humorous and grounded tone for the holiday. Morgan also pushes fashion boundaries by arriving in a slinky, sparkly dress.

As Sasha and Esther whisper-argue about dating apps during the congregation’s prayers, Noah crushes his sermon, kicking it off with a line written by Joanne: “I know what you’re thinking: How did I get even cuter?” Upon returning home, Joanne and Noah find their trash cans deliberately placed in front of their driveway by their neighbor Travis, who happens to be Joanne’s ex-boyfriend.

Episode 3: Housewarming

Joanne and Noah host a housewarming party that doubles as a hanukkat habayit—a traditional home blessing that Noah considers too traditionally Jewish even for his tastes. None of Joanne’s conversion classmates want to attend, and Rabbi Eden is notably absent.

The party quickly descends into chaos. Joanne has unsubtly hinted to Travis about the party in hopes of making him jealous, while Noah anxiously awaits Rabbi Eden’s arrival. Sasha struggles to keep his separation from Esther a secret from his protective parents, and Morgan cannot stop talking about her viral “Make Them” theory.

Eventually, some conversion classmates arrive, including Sebastien, who audits the house and quips, “Uh, on a rabbi’s salary?” Sebastien connects with Morgan and sets her up with his literary agent aunt. Another classmate flirts with Sasha, accidentally revealing the separation to Bina, who promptly takes to her bed in despair. Rabbi Eden finally shows up to clarify her strange behavior, revealing she is not upset about Noah drinking coffee on Yom Kippur, but rather deeply jealous about being passed over for the head rabbi position.

During the central ritual of hanging the mezuzah, Joanne spots Travis and goes completely off the rails to provoke jealousy. On his way out, Travis warns Noah that Joanne is unstable, to which Noah proudly fires back, “Don’t ever talk about Joanne like that to me or anyone else.”

Episode 4: Brian’s Wedding

Morgan and Joanne’s tensions boil over at a nail salon as Morgan obsessively pushes her “Make Them” book proposal. Morgan’s subsequent pitch meeting with Sebastien’s aunt turns out to be a complete disaster because Morgan is entirely unprepared.

Soon after, Joanne and Noah head to Napa for Brian’s wedding, engaging in a classic relationship dispute over airport arrival times. Noah wants to arrive four hours early, while Joanne balks at the extended wait. At the airport, chaos ensues when Joanne gives away her ticket to an overzealous fan before retrieving it, and Noah narrowly avoids being placed on a no-fly list after taking a Bloody Mary to the chest.

Against all odds, they arrive at the rehearsal dinner venue just in time. To Joanne’s utter shock, the wedding is a ruse; it is decorated with her favorite flowers, playing her favorite music, and featuring her favorite wine. Noah drops to one knee and proposes, turning the event into a surprise engagement celebration.

Episode 5: The Love Card

Following the engagement, Bina aggressively attempts to plan a massive backyard wedding that fits her vision, while Joanne prefers a low-key celebration and Noah simply wants to keep them both happy.

Meanwhile, Esther earns her real estate license and lands a massive listing with Julian, a wealthy older man with a private chef, igniting instant romantic chemistry between them. Concurrently, Morgan and Sasha continue their close platonic hangouts across the city. When Morgan bails on a writer’s group to get her tarot cards read, she maneuvers the tarot reader into telling her she is a writer. She brings a random card back to Sasha as a souvenir, which Lynn later identifies as the most powerful love card in the deck.

Episode 6: Heatwave

During a punishing Los Angeles heatwave, Joanne and Noah tour a wedding venue while Bina insists the space is too small for their expansive guest list. They are given 24 hours to whittle down the attendees.

Morgan submits her revised book proposal to Sebastien’s aunt, only to face rejection shortly after. However, her spirits lift when she receives a direct message from Andy Cohen inviting her to appear as a guest on “Watch What Happens Live.”

Joanne and Noah attempt to dine at an exclusive restaurant but are turned away until Esther arrives with the well-connected Julian, securing them a table. True to form, Noah refuses to eat with his brother’s estranged wife’s new romantic interest. The next morning, the couple tries to tackle their guest list while lounging in the pool, only to be interrupted by a stream of visitors, culminating in Joanne realizing they cannot possibly cut down the list.

Episode 7: Watch What Happens

Morgan travels to New York for her television appearance, bringing Sasha along platonically. Facing the classic trope of a hotel room with only one bed, Sasha graciously offers the couch.

After discovering that reality star Lisa Rinna has packed the exact same designer dress, Sasha takes Morgan on a high-end shopping trip, purchasing a $15,000 Valentino dress for her appearance. Morgan kills her segment on the talk show alongside Andy Cohen and Ciara Miller. Afterward, she and Sasha celebrate with dinner and drinks, sharing an unusually vulnerable moment. They pull back from a potential kiss to protect their friendship, but back at the hotel room, Morgan decides to approach Sasha’s door, leading to a passionate kiss as the episode fades to black.

Episode 8: One in a Million

Sasha wakes up alone in the New York hotel room, unable to reach Morgan by text. Back in Los Angeles, Noah and Joanne wake up from a phone-free Shabbat to find the messages sent by Morgan and Sasha the previous night.

Esther struggles with her emotions regarding Julian dating other people, but after staking out his home, she learns he canceled his other date to be exclusively with her. Meanwhile, Joanne visits conversion class and discusses her wedding venue dilemmas with Sebastien. After initially resisting Bina’s backyard wedding plans, Joanne changes her heart to keep the peace.

Tensions flare at home when Joanne discovers Noah went behind her back to talk to her father about the traditional father-daughter wedding dance. During their argument, Joanne unleashes a wildly inappropriate joke about Noah and his mother, briefly derailing their evening before they reconcile—right before Joanne drops the bombshell that Sasha and Morgan slept together in New York.

Episode 9: Last Christmas

The season features a holiday-themed episode focusing on Joanne’s final Christmas before her formal conversion. Noah is determined to send her off with an epic celebration, though the rest of her family is distracted by personal drama.

Through a series of flashbacks, the episode explores Joanne’s past relationships, the origins of the sisters’ podcast, and why Christmas holds such deep emotional significance for Joanne as a symbol of familial stability. Ultimately, Joanne realizes she no longer needs the holiday to feel safe, because Noah provides that comfort every single day. The episode closes with mounting tensions as Morgan announces she will not attend the wedding if Sasha is present.

Episode 10: The Plunge

In the season finale, Bina continues her aggressive wedding planning interventions, clashing with Noah over entertainment choices. Morgan remains firm that she will not attend Joanne’s mikveh conversion ceremony due to Sasha’s expected presence.

Meanwhile, Sasha visits his new apartment, where Esther stops by. After a tour of the space, the two reignite their romantic connection and agree to keep it a secret.

Joanne and Noah hatch a plan to trick Sasha and Morgan into riding together to the beach for the mikveh ceremony. Morgan attempts to flee along the sand, forcing Joanne to chase her down and causing them to arrive late. When the group converges at the rented beach house, family tensions immediately erupt into arguments. Amidst the chaos, Rabbi Eden quietly pulls Noah and Joanne onto the beach to complete the conversion ceremony without a hitch.

With the conversion successfully finalized, Joanne and Noah make a spontaneous decision to get married right there on the spot, accompanied solely by Rabbi Eden—who conveniently carries a ketubah in her trunk—and a random passerby who fortunately happens to be Jewish.
